From our MPPFG Dietitian, Alice Mika:
Good morning everyone, spring has sprung!
The coming of spring means that there is now more produce coming into season. Now in season: Artichoke, asparagus, beans, beetroot, berries, broad beans, broccoli, capsicums, carrot, cauliflower, chillies, cucumbers, grapefruits, leeks, lemons, lettuce, limes, mandarins (imperial), onions, parsley, parsnips, peas, potatoes, rhubarb, silverbeet, snow peas, spinach, spring onion, squash, strawberries, and zucchini.
If you’re looking for a bit of a mix up in your meals, pick one or more of the seasonal produce items above and use them in a new way. When the weather starts warming up, salads are a fantastic way to keep your intake of fresh produce up.

The warmer weather is also a good opportunity to get some exercise outside. Exposure to sunlight is important to support vitamin D levels, and your levels may be slightly lower coming out of winter. Mornings and afternoons (when the UV level is lower) are the best time to get out for some sunshine while protecting your skin.
