We’ve Got You Covered From Head to Toe
If you’re experiencing pain or injury, it can be a frustrating and isolating experience. Our Physiotherapists understand this and strive to offer hands-on treatment from head to toe to help you achieve your health goals. Whether you have an acute injury or are living with a chronic condition, our Physio team is ready to help.
Physiotherapy Treatment Techniques
Passive Mobilisation
This type of treatment occurs when the patient is relaxed and your Physio produces movement. Passive mobilisation is aimed to sooth and mobilise painful and stiff joints using specific techniques that revolve around oscillations of physical force to treat the affected area.
Massage
Remedial Massage may be part of your treatment if you are specifically seeking this OR if your Physio deems it helpful for your condition to receive a dedicated session of massage. Massage can be a valuable addition to your treatment as a stand-alone technique and/or as an adjunct to your Physiotherapy program at MPPFG. It can reduce swelling, spasm, pain and assist recovery through promotion of blood flow.
Soft Tissue Techniques
There are many Soft Tissue Techniques implemented by our Physiotherapists that may be included in your treatment. This includes soft tissue release, trigger point therapy and myofascial release techniques.
Clinical Exercise Programs
An exercise program may be included in your personalised Physiotherapy treatment plan. This includes Remedial Exercise programs from simple active range of motion exercises to advanced strength and conditioning exercises using high-end equipment.
Dry Needling
Dry needling involves the use of traditional Eastern "hardware" - acupuncture needles - within the Western musculoskeletal model, applied by Western trained medical and allied health professionals. This modality has been a valued addition to the modern Physiotherapist's "Clinical Tool-Bag". It is used to relieve trigger points, tight myofascial bands and promote healing in affected tissues.
Electrotherapy
Electrotherapy is a valuable adjunct to other elements of our “Clinical Tool-Bag” and forms part of MPPFG’s Multi-Modal approach. There are several forms of Electrotherapy that we may utilise, including ultrasound, Interferential Electrical Stimulation, Electrical Muscle Stimulation, EMG Biofeedback, and Shockwave Therapy (ESWT).
Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy is a method of treatment commonly utilised for recalcitrant and painful tendon problems known as Tendinopathy. It uses high-energy acoustic waves to stimulate a strong physiological response that may help overcome stubborn and painful tendon problems such as Plantar Fasciitis or Achilles Tendinopathy.
Hydrotherapy
The buoyancy and resistance naturally offered by water can offer incredible benefits for many individuals going through Physiotherapy. Aquatic physical therapy can help rebuild strength and mobility, as well as offering a low-impact option to rebuild fitness levels.
Pre and Post-Operative
Going through an operation can take its toll on the body. A Physio can help you best prepare yourself for the stress while also helping to boost recovery and rehabilitation after the fact.
Physiotherapy for Sports Injuries
Sports injuries can cause major health setbacks if not handled quickly and appropriately. Athletes of all skill levels can benefit from working with a Physiotherapist. Physios will strive not only to treat injuries but also to minimise the risk of reinjury after your return to sport.
Athletes
Elite sportspeople and weekend athletes alike have goals, setbacks, and concerns. A Physiotherapist can help you not only recover from injuries but also minimise the potential for re-injury/recurrence.
Children
Health conditions and injuries know no age limit. Our Physios work to create a warm and welcoming environment, meaning children with certain conditions can feel comfortable as they work with a Physiotherapist to improve their health.
Elderly
Ageing comes with natural wear and tear. But this doesn’t mean you should have to put up with the pain. Physiotherapy can help elderly patients combat problems such as acute injuries, chronic degenerative conditions, joint surgeries or symptoms associated with growing older.
WorkCover
If you undergo an injury as a result of your workplace, you are likely eligible to lodge a claim to help fund your recovery. MPPFG accepts patients with Workcover claims and will do our best to get you back to work ASAP.
TAC
Have you been injured as a result of a transportation accident as a pedestrian, driver, passenger, cyclist, or motorcyclist? MPPFG are happy to assist Patients who are eligible for a TAC claim. MPPFG has a wide range of services and treatment techniques that will assist your recovery. We are in your corner to get you back ASAP.
DVA
The Department of Veterans Affairs exists to support veterans in a range of ways. One of which is through various healthcare schemes, including Physiotherapy services.
People With an Injury
If you find yourself suddenly injured, it’s only natural to be wanting to get better as soon as possible. As a treatment method that is focused on helping the body heal, recover, and rehabilitate, Physiotherapy is a wonderful option for many injured patients.
Anyone Wanting to Improve Health and Mobility
You don’t need to have a specific injury or chronic condition to benefit from Physiotherapy. If you want to improve your mobility, increase your fitness, and enhance your overall well-being, then working with a Physio at MPPFG will guide and support you to achieve your goal(s).

Your Physio Questions Answered
A Physiotherapist is a first-contact practitioner. This means that patients are able to come directly to a Physiotherapist without seeing a GP first for appropriate conditions. When visiting a GP, the primary focus will likely be to exclude serious pathology, advice and if medication needs to be prescribed. Physiotherapy aims to provide immediate pain relief and then progress onto other aspects of your recovery and rehabilitation.
No, you generally do not need a referral to consult a Physiotherapist. A referral may make you eligible to claim Medicare benefits or subsidised treatment through programs such as NDIS and WorkCover.
Yes, we do offer Physiotherapy services to children for certain conditions and injuries. Please chat with our friendly reception staff for more details.
During your first Physiotherapy appointment, you can expect an assessment of your condition, a physical examination, a preliminary diagnosis, and a discussion about your individual treatment goals. This will provide the foundation for your personalised treatment plan.
For your first Physiotherapy appointment, there are several things you should bring along to make the process easier. These include a form of ID, your insurance information, a private health card if applicable, any relevant medical records or test results, comfortable clothing for easy access to areas that need examination, any questions or concerns you may have, and a big smile.
Absolutely, Physiotherapy may be a great choice for you! Our MPPFG practitioners offer personalised care, promote recovery, and may enhance your overall quality of life. Our clinicians are experts in assessing and addressing your unique needs, whether that may be pain relief, improved mobility, or general well-being.
