Therapies and Services
Our rehabilitation programs involve:
- Individually tailored programs to aid recovery and prevent injury.
- These may involve muscle and/or joint rehabilitation. They may target the particular injured joint/muscle, but also involve other areas of the body which may be related to the problem.
- Programs look at all aspects of injury/fitness: Strength, Mobility, Endurance and/or speed, Function, Skill and Power.
- Strengthening and stretching.
- Strengthening involves exercises against moderate to heavy force to improve muscle size and strength.
- Stretching is performed by the therapists or the patient themselves. Sustained movement to improve muscle length or joint mobility.
- Lumbar stabilisation.
- Lumbar and lower abdominal stabilisation programs (introduction to Pilates philosophy).
- Postural correction.
- Postural correction to improve abnormal postural loading (eg. in neck/shoulder region) and restore normal spinal curves (which can be lost with the ageing process).
- Pilates based exercise rehabilitation programs.
- See Melbourne Pilates.
